Poem
Traitor
Alexander Androv
Translated from the Bulgarian · Предател
Traitor,
be kind
and come
to me,
to my grave!
Flowers are waiting for you here,
drunk on my blood.
And the memory of me,
whom you have forgotten.
Come and tell me
what it was like for you
when you did it,
Traitor,
what were you to me?
A friend
or just a fellow traveller?
A judge or a pardon?
Did we have anything in common
there, where we began?
Don’t be angry
and don’t curse
yourself
or me
because
I betrayed you
too
in another time.
Come to me
into the cosy
and warm,
black nothing.
It’s wonderful here with me!
Come!
