Translated from the Bulgarian · На моята приятелка - душата ми

And it seems there will always be ways
to find you and to pledge myself to you,
my smiling girl.

We’ll hide from your enemy — reason —
my morning friend.
And we’ll travel somewhere — Seattle, say?

We’ll be alone together and we’ll talk.
About shopping and the movies,
and about words, and people gone by.

We’ll roam alone in the body’s warmth,
we’ll welcome the night and its light.
But not today, and not soon.

We have guests. Weariness has come to stay.
And her uncle — indifference.
And their two children — coldness and propriety.

But I promise you,
my smiling girl.
Just let them leave, let me close the door.

To love each other again.
Alone in the silence.
