Portraits. A Woman Who Talks a Lot.
Alexander Androv
Translated from the Bulgarian · Портрети. Жена, която говори много.
Drawing a breath.
That much silence, no more.
And she could have said so much with silence…
But paint silence with a waterfall of words?
Short intakes of breath,
a swallow for an instant.
And before she has swallowed —
words again.
A quick glance at the street.
And right after it,
or rather even during
that brief distraction:
“… so like I was telling you…”
That much silence, no more.
And through the remaining
four hundred thousand hours
of talk
it was easy to swear
that the silence it creates
was full and perfect.
