Poem
The Song You Don’t Want to End
Alexander Androv
Translated from the Bulgarian · Песента, която не искаш да свършва
It starts when you least expect it,
deafening someone’s quietly playing radio,
catching up with you on the corner when you’re in a rush.
Wrapped around the lamppost like a scarf,
slowly slipping down to its foot.
Or else, at times, starting in the middle
of a film you’ve already seen without hearing it.
Another time, right where it belongs, at the concert
you went to only for its sake.
Wrapped around your weeping naked soul
as it sees off its last sounds.
