Whoever Had to Hear, Heard
Alexander Androv
Translated from the Bulgarian · Който трябваше, чу
The round theatre by the river
quietly welcomed the tourists and was even
glad they chose it before the bistro.
Not that there was room in the bistro.
And not that the theatre had any illusions…
But out of a slight vanity, in the afternoon rain,
it swayed in the direction of the sea
with the quiet creaking sound
of its very own time.
And whoever had to hear, heard.
