The Eco-Devil
Alexander Androv
Translated from the Bulgarian · Дявол еколог
The devil flatly would not take
this soul of mine.
“It’s not the time,” he says, “to take
that soul of thine…”
“Devil, why won’t you have it?”
I ask him, beaten clean.
“’Cause,” he goes, “it isn’t clean.
I’ve gone ‘green’.”
Even hell these days will only
take a soul that’s clean,
So what’s heaven gonna ask for?
Never mind — don’t even think…
