Poem
Ink Stains on the Belly
Alexander Androv
Translated from the Bulgarian · Петна мастило по корема
You have lain down by the blue inkwell
And I write you a little at a time
From the head down to the feet
I pause to admire
The trees in the garden
Sometimes I sigh
And change you
At my own will and whim
And you resist
Ever harder, ever more stubborn
The more your legs
Appear, curving
Beneath the ink not yet blotted dry.
