Time, in Gulps
Alexander Androv
Translated from the Bulgarian · Времето на глътки
Time,
insofar as and whenever it exists,
flows or pours,
runs out
at such different speeds and in such directions,
that the mere knack of cupping my palms
under its streams,
of gathering a little of its moisture
or more
and drinking it in great gulps
seems to me reward enough
for the drought of timelessness
that I sometimes sense around me.
