Translated from the Bulgarian · На зазоряване

When on the brightening horizon
there is no longer a single star
to guide me.
And when the shadows rise
slowly out of the light,
I already step more surely.

There is so much light
that no directions are drawn any more.
Such a beautiful day begins...

I no longer care whether it is right,
only whether I want to do it,
because I no longer make mistakes.
The wrong steps and the right ones
are the way I walk.

Now I smile without unease
and lead myself astray with a smile
and a pleasant feeling in my ankles.

Now I hold out my hand
not to look for support
or to feel the handshake,
but to savour the wind
passing through my fingers.

Now I open my eyes to welcome the picture,
not to paint it or understand it.
I open doors, not to go out and not to come in,
but to find sand on which to draw
numbers and letters
and savour the rain that reads them.
